Scratches first – quality laminate is usually the right choice. Water first – if spills are wiped right away, laminate with model-specific water protection can work; where nobody wipes right away (offices, homes with kids, homes washed with lots of water), SPC is a great fit – on a very flat subfloor, preferably a thicker board.
